How we work

Kelly Caldwell is available for both commissioned portrait and commercial dog photography projects.

Commissioned Portraits

A commissioned portrait of your dog is the ultimate combination of fun and fine art. Kelly prefers to work outdoors with dogs and their guardians, choosing locations that are comfortable, convenient and visually interesting. She describes her photo shoots as, “a few hours of pure, unadulterated fun.” Harsh studio lights and unnatural poses are abandoned in favour of playtime, belly rubs and a more casual process of capturing images of dogs simply being themselves.

After Kelly has captured a range of her client’s unique qualities on film, she heads to the darkroom where proof prints are created. From these proofs, clients may select which images they’d like printed and framed. Kelly’s archival prints are hand-made using archival fiber-based materials. Print, matting and framing are all created in accordance with museum quality standards.

Commercial Projects

If you have got a commercial photography project that requires the right combination of artistry, creative direction and dog wrangling, Kelly can help. She welcomes your inquiries.

“Kelly is gifted at capturing the exact moment to represent the personality and character of dogs.”
